Leaf Pulling Trial with Petit Verdot (2014)

Summary:

For one half of a single block of Petit Verdot, leaf pulling was done on the east side of the vines (control). For the other half of the block, leaf pulling was done on both the east and west sides (treatment). The leaf pulling was done approximately one month prior to harvest. Treatment of and additions to each lot were identical all the way to barrel. Both lots received 55 ppm SO2 following completion of MLF.

 

Lab Results:

There were not many chemical differences between wines.

 

Sensory Results:

There was no significant sensory difference (p<0.05) between the Control (one side leaf pull) and the Trial (both side leaf pull). There was no preference data collected for this experiment.
