Influence of Leaf Pulling on Petit Manseng (2014)

Benoit Pineau

Pollak Vineyards

Purpose:

Using different leaf pulling protocols to get a petit manseng with a better balance of brix and pH with the overall goal of producing a dry PM.

Methods:

Three rows of a 0.6-acre block of Petit Manseng (101-14) with East/West exposure had leaf pulling on the north and south exposure on 6/30/2014. The remainder of the block had leaf pull on only the northern exposure, also on 6/30/2014. Differences produced from the two protocols were evaluated by maturity sampling (Figure 1).

Figure 1

Results:

No significant differences were found in any of the maturity control variables.
